Corporate Social Responsibility is an important facet of our business, with focus on the following areas
- Social environment, and practices for local communities
- Natural environment and its protection
- Internal company environment, and practices for human resources
At Imperial Tobacco Hellas, Corporate Social Responsibility programmes are actioned as follows:
- Charitable programmes:
Our social policy is reflected in specific interventions and initiatives such as: donations, funding (Greek Red Cross- Victims of Forest Fires Summer 2007 & People of Haiti 2010, City of Athens Homeless Shelter, MDA Hellas).
- Natural Environment:
Proving our commitment to the protection and restoration of our natural environment, as well as our substantial support for recreating our country's forest ecosystem, we have contributed by offering both funds and actual help as following:
- The reforestation of “Tourkovounia Area”, via 2 tree-planting events we held in February and March of 2010, in collaboration with the “Association for the Protection and Restoration of Tourkovounia”,
- The recreation of Pentelikon mountain, via a reforestation activity we held in December 2011 on the Pentelikon hillside, in collaboration with the Municipality of Penteli, while we also funded the installation of a 40,000 litre water tank to help irrigate the replanted woodland as well as help to prevent future fires.
All our activities have been warmly embraced by our employees, their families and friends, our associates, the public, the authorities and institutions having resulted in more than 8,500 trees planted in our capital areas, which have been devastated by forest fires.
- Additionally, we have financially contributed to the “Association of Volunteer Firemen” of Samos island.
- Voluntary Action programme ‘Concerns me’: through which:
- All employees can offer clothes, toys and books (in good condition) to be collected and donated to charitable non-profit organizations
- A blood bank has been set up for Imperial Tobacco Hellas employees and their immediate families
- The company offices operate a recycling scheme for paper, aluminum and plastic
Corporate Social Responsibility is an essential element in our corporate culture, an integral part of our strategy and a necessary condition for the company’s long-term expansion and success. It is both a result and a necessary condition of the company’s orientation to values and continued efficiency of operation.
